South Carolina Agricultural Premiums
dated 1851 & 1852



Very rare 19th century Southern coin silver premiums.


Goblet:  5⅝ inches (height).  Inscribed:  “Awarded by the S.C.A.S. [South Carolina Agricultural Society] at their 6th Anl. [Annual] Fair Oct. 1851 David Sloan for the 2nd largest imported Jack with certificates.”  On the back is a likeness of a Jack at pasture with foliage and fence.
No maker’s marks visible.

Pitcher:  10 inches (height).  Inscribed:  “Awarded by the S.C.A.S. [South Carolina Agricultural Society] at the 7th An. [Annual] Fair Oct 1852 David Sloan for the best & largest imported Jack.”
Marks:  “J. E. Caldwell & Co., PURE COIN, Philad.”
