Alabama Folk Pitcher, signed & dated
"John Terry April the 8th 1887"

7 inches (height).  Excellent condition.  Ex Jimmy Allen. 

Signed and dated 19th century Alabama folk pottery is extremely rare. 

"Terry, John H. ( 1810 SC--).  Bibb Co. 1850: Potter; 1860: Farmer.  He married Elizabeth  Emily Baker in 1833 in St. Clair Co.  Their children were all born in from 1833 - 58.  (Barnhill and Barnhill) He lived with his mother, Nancy Jordan Terry (1772 VA--) in 1850."  (Reference:  Brackner, Joey, Alabama Folk Pottery, The University of Alabama Press, 2006.)
