Catawba Valley Jar, attr. to Hartsoe
Lincoln Co., NC, ca. 1890
Attributed to Sylvanus Leander Hartsoe
(Lincoln County, North Carolina, 1850 – 1926)
13 inches (height), marked 1 gallon; however, it’s probably closer to 2 gallons in capacity.
Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks or other damage to note. Small glaze bubble on the front. The jar is essentially perfect. It is decorated with the typical Hartsoe decorative bands around the shoulder.
