Vintage Gillsville, GA Lap Churn
Probably late 19th century

Two gallons. 12 inches (height). High fired glossy slip glaze as was typical of the region. Scratched "2 on the piece.

The form is typical of the Holcomb & Ferguson families. Also, the form with the widely flared rim is typical of the Gillsville potters; however, the two gallon size is far less common. Excellent condition.
