Very Unusual & Rare Southern Paint Decorated Sugar Chest, 1st half of 19th century, probably Valley of Virginia

 
Approximate dimensions:  31 inches (total height), 38 inches (case width), 19 inches (case depth), 39 ¼ inches (top width), 20 inches (top depth). 
 
Probably used to securely store sugar, coffee,liquor, and other valuables.
 
Primary wood:  cherry, secondary woods:  poplar and pine.
Divided into three interior sections; deep drawers; all original including pulls, inlay, lock, and  paint decorations.
