American Cherry Miniature Chest
ca. 1840, probably Pennsylvania
Maximum dimensions: 20 1⁄4 inches (height), 16 1⁄2 inches (width), 7 3⁄8 (depth case), 8 1⁄4 inches (depth of top).
Primary wood: cherry, secondary wood: pine. Dovetailed drawers and one board back. All original including surface, gold paint on styles, and pulls; inlay around one key hole missing, tiny dovetails, glass pulls, legs have same gold paint as that on the styles, appears to be black paint around edge of base and edge of top, very heavily oxidized all over, appears to have grain painting on front and the sides (oxidation prohibits clear view of surface).
