"EXCEPTIONALLY LARGE & RARE TLINGIT MODEL TOTEM POLE" (Probably Wrangell, Alaska, ca. 1895 - 1910)
40 ½ inches (height), yellow cedar, concave back (hollowed-out), all hand-carved with some unusual and desirable pierced carving, all original paint and with colors that were found on the Kicksetti pole.
Superb carving. With a few differences, modeled after the Kicksetti pole, Wrangell, Alaska, which was erected in 1894. The model depicts man in glacier, frog, bear with frog emerging from mouth, owl, and bear with human captive.
