SVEND R. SVENDSEN (Chicago Artist, 1864 - 1945)

Svend Svendsen was born on 21 March 1864 in Christiania, Norway.  He was one of Chicago’s most talented Scandinavian landscapist.  He exhibited in Chicago and nationally from the 1890s to the 1920s.  In 1895, Svendsen won a prize in Chicago.  Two years later, he exhibited in the Nashville Exposition.  His paintings portray his artistic concern with light and shadow effects.
